Once you place something you want on the horizon and hop on the self-awareness path, you are ready to test your tools, techniques, and tactics on the obstacles that happen along the way. For example, you might encounter a gap in the path, and you want to get to the other side. Slow down and consider what the most obvious steps you can take are. You could build a bridge, but if the gap in the path is a severe dip in self-esteem, be prepared for many tiny steps before a sturdy foundation is constructed. Eventually, a solid foundation is important for sustainable change. This is where movement range development comes in.
A severe self-esteem dip, as told by the mind, affects your body. Hang out and listen to your body until you can feel the way your muscles organize to reflect the low self-esteem story. Typically, shoulders sag forward, the core disengages, and the breathing is shallow. Exaggerate this body shape as much as possible, then identify another end of the range, maybe stand tall and confident. Do ten repetitions of this movement range three times a day to get the mind and body accustomed to a story reset.
Still, the thoughts and judgments might continue coming in, strong, relentless storms that threaten your equilibrium. You can never have enough catch and empty thought methods. When you sense your thoughts are raining down, put on some lively music and do a Catch & Empty Dance for a minimum of ten minutes. Expand your methods, explore using a bow and arrow, a butterfly net, or a light gun. Then, of course, the judgment thoughts are heavier and more difficult to clear. Visualize your handy bucket and start scooping and dumping until you feel somewhat lighter of spirit.
Whether you build a bridge, design a zip line, or climb down and climb up the other side of the gap in the path, it’s all about story reset. Change up the words you use to identify the story you are experiencing. Listen to your tones and explore different ones. But, most of all, listen to what your body does, how your muscles organize to hold onto the old stories and do your movement ranges until they naturally become a ceremonial dance.
