Cover and Uncover Challenge

The Inner Metaverse Game (IMG) is not for the faint-hearted. There are no goggles, just mental focus power, Trekker readouts, Prototype demonstration, and IAI (Inner AI) generated Avatar action. In other words, it’s up to the Trekker to initiate change if the Avatar is to accomplish the objective.

I got hooked on the game, then my buddies and I formed Trek Team Xtreme. We are a \team of four: Clark, Teddy, Jonah, and me, Shane.

We meet twice weekly for game practice, alternating between our homes, and sign up for local matches every three months. The next match theme, Cover and Uncover, is one month away. This week’s practice is at my house, and I greet my fellow trekkers at the front door. First, Clark, a large man with dream tattoos on his left hand, followed by Teddy, known for his anger; Jonah, a mousey guy; and I’m Shane, the rebel.

We sit in a circle and warm up by repeating the theme individually, slowly adding percussive layers and text expansion. “Cover and uncover,” tap, tap, triple beat. “Cover food with plastic wrap, nicks and scratches with paint, and feelings with fake smiles. Uncover, peel, scrub, and expose.” I drop into my drummer Avatar, flickering between the two bodies. Clark prefers a boxer Avatar, Teddy’s favorite Avatar is a white water kayaker, and Jonah’s is a ballroom dancer. I press Pandora play, and we follow three songs from our collective playlist, seeking flow and Holding Pattern Release.
