Designated Self Doubter

I have an Active Inner Persona Blend, beginning with getting to know Defensive, a misaligned young man fighting for recognition, when I entered my early twenties. It took me a year to recognize him with respect and to allow him a seat at the Board Table, which he had to organize because, at that time, I didn’t believe in Inner Personas. I grew up under the influence of Sybil’s Story, a tale about a young woman with sixteen personalities starring Sally Field and Joanne Woodward in the movie that garnered awards, keeping the audience enthralled by the revealed Psychotic Horror.

After Defensive and the Inner Persona Board Room StartUp, I got to know
Boxer (doesn’t understand why he can’t use his fists in everyday life to close decisions), Sneaky (his specialty is stripping achievements before they are integrated), Unheard (a chronically ignored guy,) Feel Bad (he believes he deserves to get apprehended and put in jail and takes action that will bring this about), and then Designated Self Doubter stepped in to be the new, surprising Cult God.

DSD is slick. I’m a sucker for trimmed facial hair and glorious background. It’s easier to follow him than it is to wake up to my stiff, out-of-control, hairy old guy body. DSD never refers to Self-doubt. He narrates an alluring tale that assures me I will always be loved and adored, and yes! I follow without question.

But then, Scam Alerts showed up on my Mental Board, alerting me that DSD, aka Darling Self Dude, is a fraud bent on stripping me of my self-esteem for his purposes.

Sybil had sixteen personalities, and who knows how many I have? I am forever grateful for her and those who told her story. Reach out to your Inner personalities and Go Wild!
