Eve Dalton arrived at Discovery View Senior Residence and strode through the front door, a six-foot 250 lb vision of elegance and purpose, dressed in a flowing pale green top and terry cloth pants. Passing the office, she waved at the manager sitting behind a desk and entered the sizeable Community Lounge, where she was scheduled to lead the weekly Hands On Class. She opened Healing Hands, her Masseuse Practice, ten years ago, and in the journey of laying her hands on thousands of bodies, she realized her clients needed to know how to apply their healing hands to their bodies. She branched out to a biweekly podcast to demonstrate the simple techniques she developed herself. One day, visiting her black-brown grandmother and watching her go through the stiff, slow, careful ritual of bringing tea to the table, she felt the impulse to lay her hands on her grandmother’s body and guide the release of the many Holding Patterns. So many years lived, endless stories trapped in her muscle organization.

Now, she visited two Senior Residences on alternate weeks, free of charge, seeking to share her knowledge with her elders and, to some extent, complete the generational circuitry. Greeting each elder by name, she inquired about their various stories, listening for new details. Once seated, she raised both hands to call for silent voices, and ten old, wrinkled, and knobby hands followed suit. Lowering her hands…
