It’s Christmas Time. The call goes out for a Persona Gather in the Inner Realm Persona BoardRoom. Rogue ambles in, his conman’s eye peeled for connection. Soldier Boy enters with a Mission Vibe, followed by Pony Boy, one with his ride, before saddle and reins. Flying Ninja, expert Platform Hopper, zips in, and Old Man trundles behind Black Spartan, trusty walker. Sneaky, the supreme Hack is clever with disguise, and Scowling Critic is busy editing and banning details and narratives. There is an assortment of lesser-known Personas such as Border Guards, SelfDoubt, Shame, Feel Bad, and Champion — every year, the list expands.

Christmas Time brings the Inner Personas together, heralded by holiday music that winds and unwinds me through my past. Blackout Guy developed at an early age, and I’m still confused about his part in the bigger picture, but I’m guessing his signature music begins with a stand-up bass. The deep thrumming stroke alerts me he is taking over. Then, I lose awareness, and when I return, I have no memory of where I’ve been or what happened in the SurfaceWorld. I’ve lived in and out of this Pattern and have patched together a Management System. But now that the many Inner Personas are claiming their right to respect and acknowledgment, it’s like getting a family stepping from silence.
