Choice anxiety, also known as decision anxiety, is a common fear of making the wrong decision and facing the consequences. Some root causes include fear of responsibility, perfectionism, people pleasing, choice overload, or lack of information. I realized camouflaged Choice Anxiety controlled my narrative while washing dishes. A mundane task that could provide relaxation and comfort instead triggered an anxiety domino effect. The driving force appeared to be a fear of being myself, a person sentenced to silence.

Methods for interrupting this phenomenon included breathing exercises, staying curious, validating the narrative components, cultivating Choice Flow without identifying imperfection, and being kind to myself. I decided to practice a blend of these techniques in a situation of minimal consequence, such as simple online games where it doesn’t matter if I lose or win, even though engaging in them triggers intense anxiety as if my life were on the line.

Above the Clouds, a pattern game attached to Township is pure and simple: a flow of choices. Grouping colored shapes for varied rewards does not require skill or strategy. But who knows? I could see the puzzle unfolding without realizing it.

As soon as I click on the game icon, tension mourners edge closer, bunching protectively in my shoulders. I focus on my soles, the first grounding station. The right one pulls…
