Screaming into a pillow is a familiar image in movies. A character is vexed beyond containment and screams into the muffled interior of a pillow until replete. Or, the character finds a lonely wooded stretch and screams there until satisfied. But, realistically, the perfect screaming solution is seldom found. So, I switched my focus to developing a silent scream.
Upon my first search bar trek, I discovered Silent Scream to be popular, primarily in anime, with the famous silent scream painting a solid second. I started with the Italian hand gesture, pinching my thumb and forefinger together to express extreme frustration. Someone once told me this gesture demonstrates pinching and crushing someone’s head. When I became frustrated, I used this gesture and learned to employ it as a platform for all-body muscle organization.
Once my entire body vibrated behind the finger-pinching gesture, I explored adding music to tap me toward the core. I listened to music that evoked sadness, rage, grief, and other intense emotions. I called on the silent scream emergence, and though reluctant at first, it slowly dared to pour forth. My core burst up through the diaphragm corridor into my throat and out my mouth like fire. The more I practiced, the more I could cultivate the raging fire to clear and burn away many a holding pattern.
I vote for Silent Scream.
