Carl decided to wait for the tide to turn when his girlfriend, Kate, declared space from their relationship. She wanted him to pour everything into his upcoming Target promotion from Stocker to Team Manager, but he wasn’t sure that direction would be best. He figured she would come around when she saw an increase in his confidence after completing Story Mapping Guide Training Level I. The training wasn’t well known, but he believed it was the future.

At first, he practiced anchoring in the pull of her adamant pressure to get on board with corporate advancement by visualizing a six-foot pole anchor made of glowing silver light, which kept him grounded when the going got rough. Trying to explain this to her, he froze and rode an incoming Dismissive Wave before sliding down the other side.

When she secured a roommate situation two blocks away, he practiced Shore Anchoring as much as he could, believing that waiting for the tide to return would pay off. In the meantime, he trained his fledgling Lats to spread their cobra hood wider, using his Target Job as a workout opportunity.
